Menu — Tonight’s Plates at Paperbark House
A short menu at Paperbark House, built on produce from the farms and market gardens around Bairnsdale.
A Short List, Changed Weekly
The kitchen at Paperbark House keeps to six or seven dishes at a time, changed weekly around whatever the market gardens near the Mitchell River are sending in.
A Gippsland beef and vegetable pie is the standing main most evenings, alongside a pumpkin and ginger soup or a seasonal greens tart to start the night.
Two desserts never leave the list: lamingtons made fresh each morning, and a pavlova finished with whatever fruit is in season.

To start
Pumpkin and ginger soup, seasonal greens tart
Main
Gippsland beef and vegetable pie
To finish
Lamingtons, seasonal pavlova
How Dinner Bookings Work
- A table for dinner is booked separately from a seat at the cards; please let us know which you’re after when you book.
- The kitchen serves from half past five until nine most evenings, a little earlier on Mondays.
- A dinner booking doesn’t carry over to the card floor automatically; card seats are arranged with the house dealer once you’re ready.
- Your bill for dinner is settled at the table before you move through to the card floor; the two areas are billed separately.
